Silent time is to allow a little time, which we have forgotten to give ourselves. Let the thoughts come and go as they please, whether few or many, don’t hold on to them.
How to practice silent time
If your tend to fall asleep frequently during the silent time then do review your sleep time, you could be sleeping late and waking up early.. That’s like burning the candle at both ends 🙂
If you need to stay up late then allow more time to sleep before you wake up and vice versa.
Avoid any form of exercises during silent time, that includes yoga, walking, stretching exercise and so on. You can do them before or after your silent time. Avoid chanting, prayers, meditation and so on. Blank mind state is also good as this silent time activity brings a low freq or an alpha state or a creative state of mind.
Don’t actively seek this state, let it happen organically during the practice of silent time. Avoid focussing or consciously thinking hard on any particular topic. Allow for the next thought to enter your mindfulness.
Sleep, exercises and meditation during silent time
Sleep
If your tending to fall asleep frequently during the silent time then do review your sleep time, you could be sleeping late and waking up early.. That’s like burning the candle at both ends 🙂
If you need to stay up late then allow more time before you wake up and vice versa.
Make your sleep No 1 priority. It’s is one of the most important will-rechargers. It will recharge your body-feeling-thinking will.
Exercises
Avoid any form of exercises during silent time, that includes yoga, walking, stretching exercise and so on. You can do them before or after your silent time… Exercises before is better if you must chose. Maintaining silence during chores is not silent time. Body must be still or with little motion (standing or sitting down, little or some movement of hands and legs, i.e. automatic motion is ok to an extent)
Meditation
Avoid chanting, prayers, meditation and so on. Blank mind state is good (low freq/alpha state/creative state), although don’t actively seek it, let it happen organically during the silent time.
Avoid focussing or consciously thinking hard on any topic.
Imagine sitting on the sand in a beach with water or waves (thoughts) freely come and go like and you can view sea horizon (or) sitting on top of a mountain view with a beautiful lush green sight and blue skies. Silent time must evoke a similar feeling.
