3 months, intensive learning program for 13-21 years. Students & Intern batch, starting from 01st July 2019 to 28th Sep 2019. Suitable for homeschoolers, un-schoolers, free schoolers and alternate education learners and others welcome.

Program runs from Mon to Thu – 4 Days, flexible basis travel-trip learning. Program helps cultivate personal leadership, inner strength and community spirit. One of its kind program in India using ‘Apprentice at Sea’ structure as a base for the learning model.

Program Mentor: Capt. Preetham Madhukar and supported by an young team of energetic co-mentors with experience across varied knowledge domains.

Hand woodworking skills have become redundant in this age of machine & power tools, although this primeval skill has lasted across centuries, it is often neglected today and being brought to children as Beginner’s level 1 – Woodworking course out of a 3 level – Beginners Program (90 hours). Its said that deep satisfaction within ourselves, comes from working with our hands, bringing in the rigor and repetition needed to complete the job at hand and indirectly building a certain forces of ‘will’ within us. Workshop uses Steiner pedagogical tools.

Ages: 10 to 15 years

Venue: “Chilume” – Banashankari 6th Stage, Bangalore 560062 (Google map of venue will be provided)

Landmark: 300m from Sobha Hillview Apartments, Kanakapura Main Road, Bangalore

Course Content:

a) Understanding nature, types of wood & common terminologies
b) Understanding essential concepts of wood working
c) Understanding and working with different tools
d) Marking, Measurements & Sawing
e) Nails, Screws, Glue handling
f) Joinery, Planes & Sanding
g) Observation, Design elements & Planning
h) Learning to make frames and boxes
i) Simple wood work projects
j) Personal care & work safety awareness

Dates:

Week 1: 8th April to 12th April (15 hours)

Week 2: 15th April to 19th April (15 hours)

Child can enroll for one or more weeks. If enrolled for both weeks: Beginners – Level 1 Certification (30 hours)

Timings: 9 am to 12 pm (Mon to Fri)

What the child needs to bring: Water bottle; cap or hat; fruit or snack for a mid-course break; clear safety goggles (as available in Decathlon stores or equivalent).

Workspace: Indoors & Semi-Sheltered outdoors

Clothes: Comfortable, loose fitting clothes which can get dirty and muddy whilst working and appropriate to the weather.

Pricing: Rs 4200/- per child per week (All inclusive i.e. course fees & materials, access to working tools, project take-aways, certification (if applicable), venue charges & taxes).

Early bird fee Rs 3600/- per child per week if booked before 31st March 2019.
